How to deactivate or delete a user?
Learn the difference between deactivating and deleting a user, and the steps to follow.
Deactivating a user temporarily blocks their login without touching their account, while deleting them permanently removes them from your organization. Before any deletion, you must remove all service assignments linked to that user, to keep subscriptions consistent.
Deactivating vs. deleting: what's the difference?
- Deactivating a user - they can no longer log in, but their account and assignments remain visible.
- Deleting a user - their account is removed from the organization, and they lose all access to services and the portal.
Before deleting
First remove the assignment of all services linked to the user. This step is required to keep subscriptions consistent.
Special cases
- A deleted user can be re-invited with the same email address: they will receive a new activation email.
- If you are the last user in the organization, you cannot be deleted. You can keep your access, or delete the entire organization if no service or user is still active.
